About me
I was born in the Cayman Islands before immigrating to Canada. After studying in Canada in philosophy, literature, music and yoga for many years completing my degrees I returned home full time to Cayman in 2020.
I started practicing yoga in 2006 at Downward Dog in Toronto (Ashtanga), during my BA in literature and philosophy. Soon after I started practicing hot yoga in 2010 and in 2014 my practice turned to Hatha, Restorative and Yin, at Octopus Garden and Yoga Space in Toronto.
I have taken hundreds of hours of teacher trainings, workshops in advanced modules in sequencing, adjustments, and philosophy. I’ve also taken numerous trainings in trauma accommodations, nervous system and trauma responses, and trauma-sensitive teaching methods. My studies also include Advaita Vedanta, Kashmiri Shaivism and Jyotish.
Over the last few years I’ve led workshops on deepening our personal practices, philosophy, and on Vedic Astrology, which I started studying in 2017 and which compliments and accompanies my yoga practice. Through She Recovers™️ I had the privilege of teaching weekly donation-based trauma-informed classes for women in recovery from abuse, addictions, health concerns, and other issues.
Each Yoga practice to me should involve the full breadth of this remarkable offering: posture, breath, and meditation. I accompany students through their Savasana by singing mantra with my harmonium, and am grateful for the privilege of sharing what I have learned from my teachers before me.
